Jeff Counts

Jeff Counts is a veteran of more than 30 years in the newspaper business. He has worked as a reporter and editor at the Bay City Times, and at the Observer & Eccentric newspapers. He has even done a stint in public relations. He is a native of Detroit and a graduate of Wayne State University. Several years ago, he took a year off, lived much of that time in Grand Marais in the Upper Peninsula where he fished the Fox, his favorite river, nearly every day. There he came up with the idea for Michigan's Streamside Journal. Apart from fly-fishing for trout he is an avid bird hunter and spends plenty of time in his canoe. He and his wife, Cathy, live in Livonia. They have two sons, Chris and John.
