Michigan has always been a splendid setting for this. It is a land of biological diversity. The Great Lakes, the North Woods, and the numerous streams and rivers offer many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. We believe there is no better place.
There is a long and storied tradition in Michigan, from the natives who once hunted and fished the lands and waters to the sportsmen and women of our own time who head out for a day of fly fishing or bird hunting. It's become not just a place to catch a fish or wing a grouse, but a land of myth. Just look at the fiction of Ernest Hemingway and the essays of John Voelker. Go into any fly shop, lodge, or tavern across the state and you'll find men and women telling their own stories. Michigan's Streamside Journal wants to listen, because no matter what's in your creel when you're done for the day, how it came about is always more interesting.
We will also be covering conservation and environmental issues. Michigan's Streamside Journal is a small business: independently owned, operated, and opinionated. We will be tireless in our pursuit to conserve and preserve the outdoors. We will cover the various issues with a keen eye on protecting the habitat. We want our children to have their own stories to tell.
